On last week's BBC Film Podcast, Mark Kermode picked Girlhood as DVD of the Week. 

Directed by Céline Sciamma, Kermode said La Haine was a good counterpart although Girlhood is not quite a girl gang movie.
La Haine celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and Oval Space are showing both films tomorrow for the bargain price of £8. 

I've not seen both, can't wait.
